Looking into the Horizon

When you look and see a horizon that is clear

With nothing in the distance ,nothing anywhere near

You close your eyes hoping something will appear

days, weeks, years and the horizon is bereft

and you start to think what do I have left

Yet if you take stock of the blessings you can see

Gifted to you from birth and totally free

Instead of worrying ,panicking and stressing

appreciate every single day that you have and had blessing

Then with gratitude renewing and no point in stewing

the horizon is no longer of interest or in need of viewing

As you are spending your days getting up and doing

Giving every day the very best you can and more

You find G-d gives you a boost past who you were before

So you can reach out and get closer to your core

When G-d decides you feel the horizon start to pull

you look in the distance and see that it is now full

Israel's guest

If you treat Israel as if you are a guest

She will not reveal to you her Divine best

Israel stayed barren waiting for your shoe

For only with Nation ,Land and Torah Israel is true

If you keep Israel out of your heart

How can your journey even start

If you are first american, english ,french.... only then a Jew

No matter your protestations Israel does not need you

Israel wants you with no wall

So that despite her challenges you will always stand tall

Keep Israel always in your sight

So that eventually your heart will not put up a fight

And Israel will hug you not as a guest

But as an example to inspire all the rest

In Israel I belong

Living in Israel I know I belong

No matter the challenge being here never really feels wrong

Israel's music always playing ,each one of us her song

From all four corners we unite here in symphony

Despite the world's effort to paint us in infamy

A unique concerto plays within us all

Part of the symphony wherein we all stand tall

Israel, inextricably linked to Sinai where we all once stood

Connects us to the Source of the Ultimate Good

Israel that somehow always seems to feel right

Even though each day may be an ongoing fight

We find strength in that Israel is always in G-d's "sight"

Come to Israel if you are looking for her beauty

Come to Israel if you wish to embrace her Eternity

Come to Israel if you wish to delight in her simplicity

Come to Israel if you wish to dance to her harmony

Come to Israel if you wish to be inspired by her history

Come to Israel to see where the physical kisses the Divine

Come to Israel where your soul has the opportunity to refine

Come to Israel who has waited loyal and true

Come oh Israel to Israel who is always waiting for you

Time to Reflect

So many of us correct others with ease

We volunteer our opinion and don't even ask please

Looking through our eyes as if only we have sight

Losing the gift of seeing another's light

Steadfast in our conviction that we are doing what is right

the path is paved to a needless fight

If we took the time to reflect before we correct

Embracing honesty no matter the effect

We might just find some humility taking over

Working on ourselves so others don't need to take cover

Don't Try

Many of us say " I will try"

Then when success eludes we ask ourselves why

Perplexed and confused we say "again I will try"

thinking that now maybe success is nigh

yet when progress once more turns into a fail

fears return threatening to derail

" Did I not try ", we ask and repeat

Denying our part in this frustrating defeat

Then King David visits when he was a youth

ready to face Goliath the uncouth

Try was never a word he knew

For with G-d he could not try but he could do

So when we open our hearts and decide

try will be a curse word and doing will be our pride

overcoming obstacles and pushing limits aside

When Desperation Reigns

How do you love life when desperation reigns

How do you find the light when darkness gains

How do you recuperate when a challenge stains

Noone has an answer that fits one and all

As life is a gift but not always a ball

You remember G-d believes in you and makes you tall

You are worth too much for your life to continue to stall

Desperation cant reach you when you decide to love you

Darkness does not gain when your light is never blue

A challenge does not stain when it reveals your strength to maintain

So always believe and you will find a way to achieve

When you hear G-d's call you will see beyond the wall

Realizing that no matter how small you felt you were always tall.
